Global central bank liquidity

How to read it
The Fed's, the ECB's and the Bank of Japan's balance sheets added up in dollars. When central banks buy bonds their balance sheets grow and money looks for assets worldwide; when they let them run off, the balance sheets shrink. A stronger dollar shrinks the sum even when the balance sheets don't change, so read it next to the dollar index. The Bank of Japan publishes once a month, one or two months late; China's central bank is not in the sum.
