Hi, I'm a data engineer and an active (maybe too active) investor. I trade across several brokers — mainly IBKR, but also Degiro, Trading 212, Fio, and XTB. Stocks, options, bonds — pretty much everything.
I've always been an optimizer. I like tracking and analyzing everything to the last detail. I tried many tools but none of them worked for me — numbers that didn't match the broker, opaque calculations with no easy way to verify, inability to process parts of my data (options, bonds, unusual corporate actions). And when one did handle most of it halfway decently, it was missing features I wanted — detailed P&L decomposition (price vs FX vs income), or a precise and verifiable tax report.
So I gave up and started tracking everything in Google Sheets. It works, but with hundreds to thousands of transactions across 5+ brokers it's just too much work.
When I sat down to do my tax calculations in Google Sheets, what really started getting on my nerves was — not only do we have to pay taxes, figuring out how much we actually owe takes several days. So I decided to build my own tool. (With Claude's help, of course.) And so, after a few discarded iterations, Hedger.cz was born.
It's still a beta, but it already does what I need better than anything else I could find. Outside tax-return season, the page I use the most is Changes — I open it every morning to see exactly how and why my portfolio moved the previous day: FX impact, price changes per position, sells/buys, dividends, and other income and expenses. I also regularly use the quarterly and yearly change overviews, which I cross-check against my Google Sheets — which I've since simplified down to just high-level tracking. On top of that, I really like having all portfolio-related info together on the Dashboard — news articles for the tickers I hold, upcoming earnings and macro events, top gainers/losers, all scoped to my portfolio.
I've worked hard to make the app really accurate — to match what the brokers actually report, ideally down to the dollar. On my own fairly large and non-trivial data I've mostly succeeded, at least on the main metrics like the traditionally tricky cash balances. There are bound to be edge cases my data hasn't hit yet that the app doesn't handle, but I don't think there are many — at least for IBKR and Degiro (the other brokers I use more casually, so probably more unknown territory there). Either way, reliability and accuracy are core values for me and for this app, so if anything doesn't add up for you, let me know and I'll try to fix it as soon as I can.
The app is still in Beta — there may be small bugs or unclear bits here and there, some features are still being polished, and some are missing entirely. If you find a bug or something doesn't work as expected, let me know and I'll try to fix it as soon as I can. I'd also love to hear what's missing, what you'd like to see improved, or anything you'd like added.
If the app has caught your interest, the best place to start is the full Demo account. Or just upload your own data and see what it can do.
It also highlights legal optimization opportunities: which positions qualify for the time test exemption, how different FX rate methods affect your liability, and a clear breakdown of each trade's tax impact.
Hedger is a data-preparation tool, not tax advice. It automates the calculations, but the final tax return is your responsibility — same as with a spreadsheet.
Hedger is in beta. Try it with sample data first, or bring your own CSVs.
